Abdul and Jahira: Transforming Dreams into Reality in Thirupachatti

In the quiet village of Thirupachatti, Tamil Nadu, Abdul and Jahira's home bustles with activity. Their modest half-acre plot is dotted with coconut palms, lime trees, and rows of betel leaves, alongside a small shelter for their growing herd of cattle. Life here is simple but purposeful, rooted in their commitment to build a better future for their family.

For the past three years, Abdul and Jahira have been customers of Dvara KGFS, accessing financial services that have helped them transform their small cattle farm. Abdul took out an enterprise loan of ₹1 lakh, while Jahira joined a group loan of ₹70,000. These loans allowed them to purchase two more cows and invest in maintaining their farm.

Before working with Dvara, the family’s milk production was limited to 25 liters a day. Now, with the new cows—still playful calves in the yard—their production has already increased to 40 liters daily. Once the calves mature, they expect an even greater yield. The milk is sold locally, bringing in steady income that’s eased financial pressures and allowed them to plan ahead.

Beyond dairy farming, their half-acre of land supports a vibrant mix of coconuts, limes, amla, bananas, betel leaves, and even two turkeys. Abdul proudly shakes the lime tree and shares some betel leaves, a symbol of their hard-earned progress.

At the heart of their efforts are their teenage daughters, Afrin Banu (16) and Ashika Banu (14). Afrin dreams of becoming a teacher, while Ashika aspires to be a veterinarian. Abdul and Jahira are deeply committed to ensuring their daughters receive a quality education, hoping to see them thrive in college and beyond.

Looking ahead, Abdul and Jahira plan to expand their cattle farming business by increasing milk production and raising cattle for sale. Their partnership with Dvara KGFS has provided them with both the means and confidence to work toward these goals, ensuring a stable and promising future for their family.
